The Wedding Guide · 2025 to 2026

Everything you need to know, before the best day of your life.

How we work together, what your wedding day looks like hour by hour, and what it costs.

Congratulations on making a beautiful decision.

It is time to begin planning the wedding you have dreamed about. You will book your venue, meet your decor artist, find the dress and the suit. All of it matters. What you also need is a photography team that will not miss a beat while you are living it.

These photographs are yours to have and to hold, and to carry with you through the whole of your marriage. When the day ends, the celebration does not have to. The love you share will live on in the moments we capture together.

This is one of the most important days of your life, and I would be honored to serve you on it.

How we work together

Photography is not just a service on your list. It is a relationship. Here is every point where we talk, long before I ever raise a camera on your wedding day.

First

We meet, by phone or on Zoom

I am a firm believer that a couple should connect with their photographer, trust their photographer, and be excited about the entire process. That starts with an actual conversation, not a contract.

After booking

Your engagement session

This is how you warm up to the camera, so you are ready on the wedding day. By the time the wedding arrives, my couples feel more like friends, and that creates a safe, relaxed environment for photographs.

8 weeks before

The questionnaire

I email you a questionnaire for more detail about you as a couple. This is how I understand your love story, and how your day gets photographed like yours instead of like anyone else's.

1 month before

I call your coordinator

My team stays in close contact with your planning and coordinating team so we are all moving at one smooth beat. I confirm your photo session is built into the wedding schedule, so the focus on the day stays on the two of you.

4 weeks before

Final payment is due

Full payment for photography services is due four weeks prior to your wedding day. Nothing financial is hanging over the last month of planning.

1 week before

One last walkthrough

I contact you to go over the session details one final time and make any last minute changes. Then you get to go be a bride and groom.

Your Day, Hour by Hour

A timeline is the difference between a happy day and a rushed one.

Here is what I am photographing, and when. Use it to build your schedule with your planner.

Getting ready

The start of a magical day. We arrive an hour before the ceremony for the bride and her bridesmaids, and the groom and his groomsmen.

The details

Close frames of the rings, the florals, the gown, and anything else you feel is important to document. Set them aside for me in one place and this part takes minutes.

The first look

A few moments alone, seeing each other for the first time in your wedding attire. It brings tears and it brings smiles.

Portraits

Individual frames of each of you, then the two of you together. I guide you through a number of poses, inside and outside wherever possible.

Wedding party and family

The bridal party, then immediate family, then extended family. One favor: tell everyone the time in advance. It is the single biggest thing that keeps this part on schedule.

Two become one

Photographed from many angles. Every major moment, including the vows and the first kiss.

Once dinner is served

A moment to yourselves

The room is full and the night is loud. I keep an eye out for the quiet minute the two of you steal in the middle of it.

Let the celebration begin

Photographs throughout the reception: the first dance, the speeches, the cake cutting, the bouquet toss, and your grand exit.

Engagement session portrait in Miami

Your engagement session is where the nerves go.

This is the fun part. Think about where you met, what you love doing together, the places you keep going back to. Are you sports fans, music lovers, adventurous? Parks, museums, beach, city? All of it tells me what kind of session you are after.

It is also the rehearsal. You get comfortable in front of a camera here, so that on the wedding day you are not thinking about one at all.

Typically you may do up to 3 attire changes depending on the length of your session. Engagement sessions run 1 to 3 hours based on what you want included, such as location changes and theme. If you are having professional makeup done, and I do recommend it, factor that into your schedule before the session time. Gentlemen, a fresh tape always makes life easier. My approach is to capture the natural candid moments between you both, which is what gets you comfortable in front of the camera.

Wear an excited smile first. Keep in mind that you are getting married, and these moments last a lifetime. The outfit, the location and the theme should all be a reflection of the two of you. Ladies, bring flats. Gentlemen, bring an extra set of arms. Bring every outfit you have selected, formal or casual, both work. You are also welcome to bring props you would like to use during the session.

To design the right photography package for your wedding I need a few things: the date, the time of day, the ceremony and reception venues, the size of your wedding party, your colors and theme, and your expected guest count. More than that, I want to hear your love story. How did you meet? How did the proposal happen? Did you cry? Knowing who you both are is what lets me photograph your story instead of a generic one.

Getting married outside the United States?

Let us talk. There is a custom international pricing program, and yes, I travel.

Questions

The things couples ask me first.

Complete the contact form. Once it is submitted, I send over the information to get the ball rolling.

For photo shoots, a minimum of 2 to 4 weeks, as the schedule fills quickly. For weddings, 6 to 12 months in advance.

Absolutely, yes. For travel outside the United States there is a custom international pricing program.

We do. A team of several photographers and lighting assistants, so your day is captured in every aspect.

Yes, for the most part. I guide you throughout the entire session, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.

For standard photography sessions, 2 to 4 weeks. For weddings, 6 to 16 weeks, with sneak peeks during the first week. That window is what lets me edit your photographs to the finest detail and prepare prints and albums.

It varies by wedding, but expect somewhere between 300 and 700 images from your day. I go through every single frame and narrow them down so the gallery tells a better story.

Yes. Film packages run from 6 to 12 hours of coverage, starting at $1,800.

Immediately after the wedding your images are backed up to multiple hard drives. I then sort through thousands of frames for the gallery that best tells the story. Blurry and underexposed frames are deleted.

In the event of a postponement for any reason, I will do my best to accommodate your new wedding date. Alternative dates depend on availability and on the nature of the original date. If I cannot accommodate the new date because of an existing conflict, I will substitute a lead photographer along with a second photographer. Every team member is trained to uphold the Widgy Normil Photography standard.
